There is one thing that none of us will ever escape, my friend. And that is aging. But I have to say that I turned 50 a few years ago, and I still feel young! I have a lot of life left to live, and instead of trying to turn back the clock… I’ve learned to embrace my age. (It doesn’t mean I don’t feel it in these bones sometimes!) It’s one of the only things about yourself that you can’t change, so you might as well stop fighting it. Whether you’re reading this in middle age or you’ve got quite a few seasons of life left, these tips will make all the difference for you… and no, I’m not talking about Botox. Let’s talk about how to master the art of aging with grace and style!
Sure, we can elect to get surgeries and injections to make us look younger. And there’s always some kind of new trend on Instagram or TikTok saying it can age us backwards. But what if there was a way to make you look great at your current age? (You guessed it – there is!) These are some tried-and-true tips, and I’m here as a woman embracing middle age speaking truth to your aging power!
How To Master The Art Of Aging With Grace And Style
Drink more water. This might seem like a no-brainer… but literally everyone you know is underhydrated! There’s a reason that wedding makeup artists always tell their brides to hydrate like crazy the week prior to their wedding. It’s because their skin will be FLAWLESS. Imagine if you did that all the time! Your skin would be so vibrant!
Master your personal skincare routine. Put in the effort to find the cleansers, serums, and moisturizers that work for your skin. It doesn’t have to have 25 steps – but it should cover the basics at least! (Say it with me now: SUNSCREEN.) A lot of things can negatively affect your skin! During my cancer treatment, my skin went to hell in a handbag. And I had to really spend some time finding the right products. I turned to a dermatologist for help and was able to figure it out. Highly recommend if you can afford it!
Find a good tailor. You gotta make sure your clothes fit, my friend. Don’t leave it up to the brands to make clothes perfectly for your body. Invest in tailoring so you get the perfect nip and tuck! It just makes you look more sophisticated and expensive, even in the most modestly priced clothes. And that’s something that will make you look flawless at every age – especially so when you get older.
Invest in the best quality wardrobe basics that you can afford. I’m talking jeans, slacks, and dresses! Start with your favorite neutrals, and then add a few colors. My older clients will often worry that they’re aging themselves by trying to be too trendy. If you have great basics, you won’t ever run into this problem!
Find the colors that flatter your skin tone. As we age, our natural coloring changes – which means the colors that worked with our skin during our younger years aren’t viable anymore. Pay attention to what colors you’re wearing when you get compliments. (And if you need a professional color analysis, you’re in luck – I offer them! Contact me to set up an appointment!)
